Should have listened to the reviews and not purchased

I trail run 100 KM (62 miles) a week on average and climb (while running) an average of 4000m (13,123 feet) a week. This shoe is sadly a complete waste of money for trail running. It's as if they designed it to not fit people that fit in their best reviewed trail shoe, the original Ultraventure. It ...

Since you are redesigning this model. Any chance you could make a water proof version of this run shoe as well? Having a trail run shoe is fantastic but early morning are wet with grass and so forth. I'd love to have a running trail shoe that is also water proof.

Great right out of the box. Replaced the Ultraventure which I also loved. These have pretty much the same feel but a little more grip on the bottom which is nice. Use to be an Altra fan but Topo has won my loyalty. I just hope the don't sell out to China like Altra.

Use this for trail running here in New Zealand. They have been great through mud, roots, dust and rocks. I got half a size large and they are fantastic. The heel felt a little loose in store but is great on the trail. Super light and they shed water amazingly! I have managed to wear a hole in the upper after 1.5months, this seems to be the only weak spot.

Comments about Ultraventure Pro

Topo athletic shoes are a great fit for my feet. I have wider feet and benefit from the shape of the toe box design. This particular shoe has Vibram soles that are sturdy and durable. I live in the South West. I run trails in the Mojave region. The trails are rocky and prickly yet I felt fine and stable. They feel, in my opinion, light weight. Again, I only go out 2-3 times most weeks. Then, I use them for long hikes in desert conditions. These are the second pair of Topo athletic shoes. The other pair are still used but I reserve them for roads and paved trails.

Shoes fit great! I have a wide foot and the toolbox has plenty of room. Felt like the heel was a little loose in the store but on the trails its magic. Nice and light with great grip and amazing ability to breathe and shed water! Wore them running and climbing for 16 hrs yesterday and feet still felt great!

Just got these 11-28-20. My first ever trail shoe, have always worn boots, and I love them. Straight out of the box to the trail & a brisk paced 6 miles in Southern Indiana hills & my feet felt great. Great grip on the trail, rock plate works well, & my toes never hurt like they have in a few of my boots. Heel & mid foot felt secure & toes felt like they had plenty of room. Looking forward to putting many more miles on these bad boys.

Awesome shoe for thruhiking

I can't say how this would work for trail running. For thruhiking or any long distance hiking, this is an awesome shoe! Ironically, despite what some reviews have said, i found this to be one of the best fitting, and by far the most comfortable topo model I've ever worn. But again everyone has different feet, so it's always good to try them on, and see how they work for you. Topo offers a very generous 1 month trial. The reasons I say these shoes are so great for thruhiking is because they are very lightweight, very comfortable, have the mega grip sole, and a rock plate. The rock plate really made a huge difference for me hiking in places like the Sierra that are known to be very Rocky in places. The mesh of the shoe is airy, and breathable! I love these shoes! Apparently so do a lot of people as they are sold out basically everywhere. Based on my experience with this shoe, I think it's place is for things like long distance hiking. I think topo has other models that would be better for those looking more for a trail running shoe. But again that's just my opinon based on my experience with this shoe. One thing to remember when reading reviews is that everyone's feet are different and I think it's unfair to fault the shoe company for a particular model not fitting you well.. there's no way every shoe will work for everyone.. but if you do really like these shoes and they don't quite fit right, you could possibly look into custom insoles. I did read some reviews about the sole breaking apart early on these. I haven't experienced that, so it's possible a bad batch got through. So far these shoes have been great and I have about 450 miles of road and trail combined on them.. I've also used the mt racer and love that shoe too! The only advantage and reason for me favoring this over that model is the rock plate. I took off one star because unfortunately they are very hard to find, if not impossible...and planning a thruhike it's nice to know you'll be able to get replacements for your shoes..of course you can change models but that often can lead to blisters and problems.. the other issue is if you do have a failure; and need to replace under warranty, this would prove impossible due to no stock...hopefully topo gets their stock situation worked out.. and this would easily be 5 stars!
