Runventure 2 is a lightly cushioned and responsive, 0-drop trail runner. These light supportive running shoes use the same high performance rubber sole found on the Terraventure, combined with a slightly thinner EVA midsole. Runventure 2 uses a relaxed elastane heel for a more natural feel. Runventure 2 also features a uniquely designed gaiter attachment to help keep out dirt and debris. Gaiters for our women's lightweight trail running shoes are optional and may be purchased separately.
Anatomical toe box allows toes to spread naturally and comfortably.
Flexible ESS rock plate protects against stone bruising caused by sharp rocks and roots.
Combines multidirectional traction, heel braking lugs, and mud/snow release design features.
Completely neutral drop for the most natural running experience.
I just love all of your zero rise shoes. The fit and comfort are perfect. My only complaint is that the fabric does not hold up well at all. It breaks down where the foot and toes bend, that crease. I have had 5 pair of Topos and every pair except the new ones have done this.
I love these shoes! Unlike other reviews, I think the fit is great and I haven't had any issues with stretching. I primarily use these to hike and have put over 100 miles on them, including a couple 15 mile days. They seem to be holding up well and have been comfortable even on the longer days and on really rugged terrain. The only reason I gave these 4 stars is because the pink heel box has dyed every pair of socks I wear with these hot pink on the heel... not ideal when hiking socks and trail running socks aren't cheap!
Overall these are great. I already had the Terraventures and Hydroventures, which I really liked, but I wanted something with a little less cushion and zero drop. I have run on both dirt trails and really rocky mountain trails with these and they felt great. There is really great ground feel, but also enough cushion to protect my foot. They also seem to be holding up well. The only issue I have is that the fit is a little loose in the midfoot/heel compared to my other topos in the same size. The roomy toe-box is great, and the fit is great length-wise. I tried many different lacing combos to get my heel locked in, and while this has helped, I still get a little more foot movement side-to-side than I'd like. If they were just a tad more fitted through the heel they'd be perfect! In all my topos, I go up 1/2 size from my regular 8.5 to a 9.
I like these a lot for their versatility. They're comfy, zero drop, perform well on pavement or packed dirt, and can also handle some rockier trails. That being said, I would like slightly bigger lugs for more technical/muddy trails. I do love that they're zero drop! My big complaint is that I blow through the sidewall too quickly. Maybe it's that there's just a little too much give to the overall fit - it doesn't quite hug my foot as well as I'd like (and seems to stretch some over time) so it moves a bit on technical/steep downhills. I suspect a little more reinforcement to the upper would fix this. But overall, I like this shoe a lot!
"It's like you're running naked, but with clothes on." This is how I would describe the fit of this shoe. The Runventure 2 is the most lighweight and airy shoe I've ever worn, and it fits like a glove due to the relaxed elastane heel. What I love most about this shoe is the roomy toe box. It has minimal cushioning which allows you to feel the ground underneath you. I feel like it's just enough cushioning to where I can feel some rocks, but the rockplate provides protection. I am a Topo Athletic Ambassador.
I have been running off road in the Runventure 2 for about 3 months. The zero drop and wide toe box (I can easily spread my toes) were big factors in my decision to buy these shoes and I am pleased with both features. The Runventure 2 does not have a lot of cushion but I prefer the better road feel they provide. They have plenty of protection on rocky terrain and the treads provide good traction. I plan to stay with this shoe for trail running.

I originally fell in love with the first generation Runventure and was sad to see it pulled. Now I get why, though! The second generation has a better outsole/lug (equivalent to the Terraventure) and a slightly more narrow toe box than other Topo Athletic trail shoes, making it great for those that like a little more hug to their toe box. As a Seattle native, this is my go-to on rainy days because it dries so fast that I know it'll be ready for tomorrow's run. The gaiter attachment is a really great and unique feature, since it attaches directly to the shoe to keep rocks and debris out. I'm an ambassador for Topo Athletic, and this is by far one of my favorite changes they have made to a shoe over the years. I'm not normally crazy about zero-drop shoes but The Runventure 2 has my sole.
