Almost perfect.

I was excited to get these on sale and to give them a try. I'm getting desperate with regard to walking/hiking shoes. I walk 5 or more miles almost every day, sometimes on a blacktop bike trail and sometimes on dirt trails. I have bunions. My toes get numb. I've tried other roomy toe box shoes. Altra gave me the right amount of room in the toe box but I didn't like the zero drop. Hoka also came close but they were heavy and bouncy. These Topo MT-2's are the best so far. The drop is just right. The soles have the perfect amount of cushion. They are well built. My one issue is that, while the toe boxes are roomier than a pointy shoe, they aren't roomy enough for me. They rub the bunions and my small toes. I ordered my usual size. The shoe is so perfect other than the toe box that I'm thinking I might order a half size up. A full size up is sold out. I love the shoe so much that I don't want to give up on it just yet.

Great light trail shoe

I took a chance on these shoes since they were on sale. I feel like I'm flying when I wear them! They are light weight especially compared to my Brooks Ghost road shoes. I wish they had a rock plate because my feet are sore after running on more rugged trails. Also, I wish they had a gaitor attachment. My only big complaint is that one of my smaller toes on my right foot is really sore after running more than 4 miles. Not sure if it's rubbing in a funny way, but I've never experienced this in other shoes. I recommend Topo, and the wide toe box is amazing!

From coaching to running to all day comfort

I purchased these as every day coaching shoes (I coach 7 year old soccer and basketball teams). I needed something that was as comfortable as the Ultraventures I run in daily but a tad bit lighter. Besides being incredibly cute, these shoes are amazing. I find myself wearing them all the time, not just for coaching. They are a dream to run in as well both on road and the trails which is a feature that I love! I am a Topo Ambassador but I really dig the comfort of these shoes! The wide toe box is what I needed for all day comfort.

Great shoe!

I love these shoes. I have gone through two pairs and am about to purchase my third. I can confirm the upper material of the earlier model was not robust enough, and that the manufacturer has successfully addressed the problem in the later model. I use these for both road and trail as my runs take me across both terrains. I have also used these for light hiking where ankle support wasn’t critical. They are flexible and comfortable as Topo shoes usually are, but I find these to be the perfect mix for road, trail, and everyday comfort.

Versatile trail shoe

This is a great trail shoe for running in the woods, dirt roads and even roads. I even hike/run some small mountains in NH with these shoes. I finished my first 50k trail Ultra wearing my Mt-2s. For new trail runners this is a great shoe to start with because of its versatility. The improvements in the fabric have greatly improved the overall quality of the shoe. I am a Topo Ambassador.

mixed review

This is my second pair of Topos. Previously tried the Runventure and loved them but found the upper shoe to not be quite durable enough for the technical trails I tend to run so I decided to give these a try. The fit is 1/2 size smaller than the runventure. I love the roomy toe box and grip of the sole. Very disappointed in the tongue of the shoe. It is so short it barely comes to the upper edge of the shoe. It is quite painful to run downhill in because there is a large bump created by the tongue and upper shoe. Unfortunately I have worn these shoes 3 times and don't think I can wear them again due to this.

Great for trail and road running

The MT-2 is my go-to shoes for my weekly runs from my house to a nearby trail because they are great for road running and provide the right amount of support for trail running. They are super light trail shoes; great to pack for traveling and hiking. I especially love the material of their shoelaces- because they hold tight and do not get loosen up easily.

I am a Topo Athletic Ambassador.

Rock plate not needed

I can't speak to the original MT; but have owned several pairs of the MT-2 and have gotten more than 800 miles out of each of my pairs (I still have a pair from 2016 that feels great with no tearing).

I love the gusseted tongue of the MT-2 so that tying my shoes are super quick and fuss-free (especially re-tying during a trail run). It also seems to keep any little excess debris out of the shoe.

The shoe drains fairly well and takes less time to dry than the Terraventures/Hydroventures. The printed sections of the upper are waterproof runs through shallow puddles will most likely leave the foot dry, which is great!

The MT-2 is the only Topo trail shoe without a rock plate, so I love this shoe for it's super flexibility on gravel, or soft packed trails. I'm a Topo ambassador so I own all the trail shoes Topo Athletic has to offer, and this one is, to me, the most versatile. It's my go-to for trail races in Seattle, where they often are mixed terrain.

Great Trail Shoe

This is a very lightweight, comfortable and versatile shoe. I am more of a hiker than trail runner but I loved being able to switch out my winter hiking boots for these today! I was a little worried about grip on wet mossy roots and rocks, and that I might feel every rock but these performed as well as the boots and were so much lighter!

Great shoes!

These were my first pair of Topo's. Very comfortable and durable. Great for trail use. Little slick on wet rocks so I'm going to try the Terraventure next. I wear them hiking, trail running, and general day use.

Very comfortable but not durable

I LOVED these shoes BUT they are not very durable. The sole is but the upper is not at all. Debating getting another pair but not sure if the fabric of the upper has been improved......tried contacting company with no success.

*Topo note: our customer service team reached out to this customer to follow up on her concerns. We updated the MT-2 mesh in early 2017 and this customer's MT-2s were an older mesh style.*
