Designed to be worn with select Topo Athletic trail shoes, our Lycra lightweight gaiters help keep out dirt and debris and remain secure on the shoe thanks to the unique S-hook, 3-point fastening system. At 0.6 ounces (16g), these trail running gaiters are lightweight and dry quickly. Watch the video below to learn how to properly attach your running shoe gaiters.
I have run many trail miles without gaiters often wondering if I should get them. In the Appalachian foot hills I call home, I feel they're not quite as necessary where trails are rock and hard-packed clay. However, in sandier soils nearer the coast or way out in the dryer climates of the western US, these things are clutch. As I've been an avid Topo trail-shoes runner these were the obvious choice because they fit perfectly over the shoe, staying locked down without the need for an underfoot strap like you find in generic models. The clip on the front seems like it won't hold well but it has never come off mid run. And the two in the back slide easily into the holes your shoes come with standard. I've noticed a 100% reduction in sand, rocks and plant bits in my shoes after a run. No more sand spurs randomly stabbing you and bringing your run to a total halt. Prepare for an even more awkward high ankle tan line that's worth it.

A little fiddly to get on if you're trying to stand up and do it. Kinda need to sit down to do it. Otherwise great. Wish it wasn't black for the heat. Other colors would be appreciated.

I really liked the quality of the gator but you have to perform yoga moves to get the back clips hooked

On the small size and barely cover shoe

I typically don't wear gaiters but bought these for an upcoming 100 miler on a dirt and gravel trail. On the plus side they easily hooked into my Topos and kept dirt out during some short test runs. The problem is the ankle size. I'm petite and these droop off my ankles and flap around. But for the price exact sizing may be too much of an ask.
I really like these gaiters - particularly compared to other trail gaiters I've owned (like Solomon, etc.). The fact they don't have to stretch under the sole is huge. I will say they are not the easiest to get off following a long run, but the hooks in the back seem to stay put well regardless of tough terrain. The biggest complaint I have is that the stitching blew apart on the seem that runs right down the middle. I've had to sew it up twice now, and it's only been ~4 months and perhaps 400-500 miles of use.
These gaiters are too hard to take on and off quickly so they just became dead weight, and dead weight is not something any backpacker wants in their gear kit. I really wish Topo put a Velcro "gaiter trap" on the back of their trail runners instead like Altra and Brooks. Once they're on the gaiters do fine, but you better not intend to do take off your shoes or put them back on all day.

The connectors on the rear certainly stay in place, but they make putting them on very difficult. Also the tops are quite loose.
