I am a huge fan of these shoes. I use them for road and trail, and put over 500 miles on my first pair (they have some holes in the mesh and the cushion in the midsole is dead but they still work). They are low enough drop that it took some adjustment, but noticeably easier on my achilles than 0 drop. I find they relieve my Morton's Neuroma pain.
I have tried all other Topo models and am baffled that none of them come close to working for MY foot. Really odd. In the end I have just had to purchase a couple of pairs of these, and they are great. Used them for two 50km trail races. Not good for extreme sharp rock trails though, obliviously (no rock plate, your feet get chewed up I have tried).

I love the versatility the MT-2 offers. I have put in quite a few pavement miles, to and from trail, as well as a couple ultra distance events on trail.
The toe box is great for my bunions and the light weight is great for putting in the distance on smooth or moderately rocky terrain.
This is my primary training shoe for the versatility and trail feel.
400+ miles on my current pair with no issues and tread still strong after pavement.
Honored to represent this brand as part of the Topo Ambassador team!
Can you make these in 0 mm drop? I purchased the magnifly 2, they are great and are 0 mm drop. I am looking for a 0 mm drop trail shoe with moderate stack and wide toe box to swap with altra king mt. Thanks!
*Topo note: If you're looking for a zero-drop trail shoe similar to the Altra King MT, we would suggest checking out the Runventure 2. It offers a 19mm platform and features a cool gaiter attachment.*
These are my first Topos and I love the fit and just-right amount of cushion. I bought these to primarily to be a trail shoe, but I have found that they are not quite what I was looking for, as the outsole seems to have a bit of premature wear and the lugs are too closely spaced to release debris easily. It does not thrive in hilly, varied terrain, but I am beginning to think I was asking the shoe to be something it is not. I originally wanted an All-Trails shoe (Saucony Peregrine, Altra Lone Peak) but what I have is an excellent All-Road shoe, able to tackle groomed trails, pavement, and gravel easily, even if wet rock and mud are not really in its wheelhouse.
I will definitely explore other models in the future for both road and trail, but I hope the lug patterns on at least one trail shoe will become more aggressive/specialized and more durable, as this is the best fitting shoe I have worn in ages.

I'm on my 9th? pair of these. I wore them on a 2190 mile hike of the Appalachian Trail. Went through 5 pair on that trip. They are great shoes. Super light and have a wide toe box. Quality of the shoe has improved over the first couple pairs I have bought. The toe has a semi rigid protector built in and the TPU layering is very nice. Breatheable and dry very fast (1hr of hiking will take it from submerged wetness to dry in moderate weather). The insole tends to slide around when extremely wet so I would often remove it in wet weather. Toe rubber will need to be reglued every so often if you are a toe dragger.
Comfortable shoes for mixed trails or road. More cushiony than the runventure 2 model, but lack the rock plate. Definitely noticed this when running over small or sharp stones. They're light and shed mud easy. The MT 2's retain water a bit more than the runventure 2 model, however the higher stack height and 3 mm drop are what I was looking for as well as the wide toe box asl. Put 15 miles on my first pair right out of the box! Nice job Topo Athletic.
Love this shoe -- I've been using them constantly for over 3 years now. They do wear fast, but you can expect to get a year out of them. (Please DO NOT make them 0 drop! I can't stand 0 drop. ) : )
The wide toe box, heel cup and sturdy lateral support are the best in the biz. I've bought a lot of similar shoes to get here and plan to be a Topo enthusiast for life!
In my quest for the perfect hybrid shoe equally capable on trail and road, I was leaning toward the Altra Torin due to the great fit and feel although I wanted the outsole to be more aggressive. On a whim I tried on Topo MT-2’s. They felt great and as an added bonus, were only $100. Now, about a month in, I love these shoes. They’re the perfect shoe for me on a mix of trail and road (I live in the Front Range of Colorado). Just this week I’ve taken them on snowpacked trails and wet and icy pavement and they have performed as I’d hoped. I no longer feel a need to find the perfect shoe for me as I think I found it. My only hope is that any future updates aren't drastic, keep the weight where it is, perhaps add a skosh more cushioning to the heel for those downhill pavement runs, and add a few interesting color options to the men's line. I definitely recommend you try this shoe if you're looking for a comfortable and capable hybrid daily trainer for a mix of trail and road.
